Novitas: Research and Youth and Language (ROYAL)
Declaration of Publication Ethics (2026)
Publication Ethics
Novitas: Research and Youth and Language (ROYAL) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and implements all requisite measures to prevent any breaches of ethical conduct. All authors submitting their manuscripts for publication confirm that the work is their original contribution and has not been copied or plagiarized, wholly or in part, from other sources. This also encompasses a justified use of all AI-derived content.
Responsibilities of the Editorial Board
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for determining the articles to be published in the journal from those submitted.
We strictly adhere to a policy of fair play. Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit, without regard to the race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic background, citizenship, or political views of the authors.
All submissions are kept confidential. The editorial procedures are conducted without revealing any information about the authors to anyone other than the corresponding author. Reviewers are strictly prevented from viewing the authors' names or affiliations in the manuscripts.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers' reports are subject to monitoring to ensure objectivity and constructiveness in their evaluations and feedback. Additionally, reviewers are cognizant that the manuscripts entrusted for review must be regarded as confidential documents.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must ensure that their contributions are entirely original; when incorporating the work or words of others, proper citations or quotations must be provided in accordance with the journal's guidelines. Plagiarism, in all its forms, is deemed unethical and unacceptable, including the improper use of AI.
Authors should avoid "slicing," which involves submitting multiple manuscripts describing essentially the same research to different journals or primary publications.
Authorship should be limited to those who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, data collection, and writing, or the overall content of the study. Consequently, all individuals who have contributed significantly should be acknowledged as co-authors.
Dealing with Unethical Publishing Behavior
Novitas: Research and Youth and Language (ROYAL) adheres to the COPE procedures for managing allegations of misconduct. All procedures are conducted in strict accordance with COPE Core Practices (please refer to the links provided below).
The editor bears responsibility for any misconduct and unethical behavior within their knowledge. Consequently, any instances of misconduct may be identified and communicated to the editor and publisher at any time by any individual.
Therefore, the editor should take appropriate and responsive actions when ethical concerns are raised concerning a submitted manuscript or a published paper. In cases of proven misconduct, the journal may issue an erratum, a formal retraction, or, in severe cases, prohibit the authors from making future submissions.
Data Access and Retention
Authors may be requested to give the raw data associated with their manuscript for editorial review purposes and should be prepared to make such data publicly accessible when feasible. Additionally, authors are required to submit copies of their ethics approval forms with their submission. All publications are assigned secure DOI identifiers without publishing or sharing the raw data.
Editorial Independence
In accordance with COPE standards, our editorial and financial procedures are rigorously segregated. All decisions regarding acceptance, rejection, or revision are exclusively based on the scientific merit, relevance, and quality of the manuscript, as evaluated by our independent reviewers. Editors and peer reviewers do not have access to payment information and are not involved in the collection of article processing charges (APC).
APC Waiver and Discount Policy
To provide open access to all published articles and to subsidize publication expenses, Novitas: Research and Youth and Language (ROYAL) must charge an Article Processing Charge (APC). The APC is charged after a paper is accepted for publication. This fee covers the costs of web services, peer review processing, professional editing, typesetting, long-term archiving, and global dissemination, as well as the technological requirements that journal editors must acquire to perform their functions. All reviewers will be compensated for their reviewing activities to ensure that academic labor is duly valued and highly esteemed. The customary APC for all research articles is $1,200 (USD).
We assert that financial limitations should not impede the production, publication, or access to high-quality research. Therefore, we implement a tiered waiver system aligned with the World Bank's Classification of low-income economies. As a result, if all authors of a paper originate from the countries listed below, no fees will be levied, enabling them to publish their articles with us at no cost.
The APC Workflow
To ensure transparency and prevent "predatory" practices, the collection process follows these steps:
- 1. Notification: When the review and editorial decision are complete, the corresponding author receives an Acceptance Letter and a formal invoice.
- 2. Payment Methods: Payments are processed via a bank transfer.
- 3. Publication: The manuscript will enter the production phase (typesetting and DOI assignment) only after the APC is paid.
Refund Policy
Once an article has been published or a DOI has been assigned, the Article Processing Charge (APC) is non-refundable. If an author elects to withdraw a manuscript after acceptance but before publication, a nominal administrative fee of 20% may be applicable. Additionally, transfer expenses will be deducted from the amount paid to the author(s).
As indicated above, Novitas: Research and Youth and Language (ROYAL) follows the procedures set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Please follow the following links for further information that shapes our journal's procedures:
